Other Action News

The League of Women Voters of Portland Board has voted to endorse the Multnomah County Healthy Kids and Education Initiative, which would impose a 1.5 cent per ounce tax on distributors of sugar-sweetened beverages and use the revenue for programs supporting the health and education of young children. This endorsement is based on our national LWVUS position on Early Intervention for Children at Risk. The League strongly supports prevention and early intervention measures that help children reach their full potential. For more information about this initiative, please see the Yes! For Healthy Kids and Education website.
